NORTHEASTERN DISTRICT – Saturday, February 28th at 10:00am – 2:00pm at Hansen Honey Farm, 3279 US-8, Rhinelander, WI. Guest speakers NOD Sales Rep, Phoebe Snyder presenting, “Mites: Past, Present, & Future – What Varroa has Taught Us about Treating Emerging Mite Threats” and WI-DATCP State Apiarist Brooke Nikkila-Sommerfeldt presenting, “Spot the Signs: Identifying and Managaing Honeybee Brood Diseases and Viruses.” WHPA Members Free; Non-Members $10. SOUTHEASTERN & SOUTHERN DISTRICT  – Saturday, March 7th, 1:30-4:30pm at Concord Community Center, W1095 Concord Center Drive, Concord, WI.  Come enjoy an afternoon of beekeeper fellowship over coffee and treats along with numerous door prizes! Free for WHPA members; non-members $5.  Learn from and ask questions during a Panel Discussion titled: “The Realities of Beekeeping in WI: A Frank and Honest Discussion” This discussion will cover:

  • Real-world expectations
  • What does it really cost to maintain healthy hives—in terms of time, energy, effort, and finances?
  • Is there an “easy” approach? And is there a “cost” to it?
  • How do I make money or at least break even with my bees?
  • How do get rid of the stress and enjoy keeping bees?
  • And more…
